Overview

The mission of the Center for Animal Health Innovation (CAHI) is to connect innovation to industry with the express goal of producing breakthrough products and services that can have a major impact on the animal health industry. At the core of CAHI is its Proof of Concept Program that is devoted to identifying, evaluating, funding and helping to commercialize the most promising technologies. The fundamental principle of the Proof of Concept program is that by connecting innovators to industry early in the development process breakthrough products and services are more likely to be created quickly and have greater value. In addition, the Proof of Concept program maintains that connection until the project reaches commercial ready status through a strong mentoring program that strives to increase the number of projects that move from idea to market. Our industry led Board and Staff will help validate market needs, guide initial research plans, inform the regulatory and clinical plans, help develop the business plans, and help provide the necessary connections to industry partners and capital. Commercial partners may be from established industry, entrepreneurs or venture capital groups. CAHI sponsors innovation in pharmaceuticals, nutritionals, diagnostics, biologics, and medical devices. Projects with interdisciplinary activity (veterinary, medical, engineering, agricultural, etc.) are encouraged as they often drive the most innovative solutions.
