Overview

Camp PossAbility, Inc., 501(c)3, is a new one week summer camp designed specifically for cognitively high functioning young adults ages 18 to 35 with physical disabilities. This is what makes Camp PossAbility unique because of the age and disabilities it serves. There are multiple camps for children with disabilities, but most young adults age out at age 18 or 21. Many campers miss this safe, adapted environment where they can enjoy activities with friends. Camp PossAbility exists to give young adults with physical disabilities a week to empower the mind, body, and spirit with social enrichment, outdoor adventure, and emotional support. Camp PossAbility will runs during the first week of August every year (July 29 to August 3 in 2018). Camp PossAbility is based in Fort Wayne but will be held at Bradford Woods in Martinsville, Indiana, an adaptive outdoor center owned by Indiana University, and Camp PossAbility will contract with them to rent space for a week. Because this camp is such a needed event, we have young people coming from across the country to attend. Camp PossAbility has NO PAID STAFF, including its CEO, but seeks volunteers for its week of camp, both volunteers to serve 1:1 as camper aides during camp week as well as medical professionals who can help meet our campers' medical needs at camp so they can enjoy a week of freedom and empowerment.
