Overview

Formed in 1897 as a social club for fire chiefs in the state, known at that time as the California Fire Chiefs Club, the California Fire Chiefs Association has grown to become one of the largest and most influential state chiefs' associations in the country. Representing over 650 fire chiefs from nearly 1,000 emergency services agencies, along with 1500 Section members, the Cal Chiefs of today is a professional organization designed to advance the profession and represent the diverse interests of its membership. Eight Sections work tirelessly to provide value in each of their specialty areas: Fire Operations, Fire Prevention, Training, Emergency Management, Administrative Support Services, Communications, Fire Mechanics and Emergency Medical Services. In addition, Cal Chiefs has a Legislative Division, including a large Legislative Taskforce. Progressing forward the California Fire Chiefs Association plans to continue its work locally and nationally on key legislation that impacts the fire service. Additionally, we look to strengthen the relationships and network between chiefs throughout the state to provide support during the challenging economic and social times ahead.
