The Centre for Rights, Environment, and Good Governance (CREGG) was founded January 2022, by Law Students, namely, Mr. Ujjwal Sharma and Ms. Priya Katare. The founders are pursuing B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) at Jindal Global Law School, OP Jindal Global University, Sonipat. CREGG is an independent student-run research and legal aid initiative, aimed to spread awareness, and assist the members of the society. It will strive to help secure the various rights and benefits guaranteed to the society by our Constitutional framework and Governmental policies. We specialise in community service, legal research, and advocacy on issues pertaining to fulfilling the larger Constitutional promise of a dignified life to every person, by encouraging them to participate in the process of democracy. With the help of professors of law, and other members of the legal fraternity, we will deliver an in-depth perspective, along with research to contribute to access to justice for all, for the betterment of the society. In 2021, Ujjwal filed and argued in person his application opposing cutting down 2,50,000 trees in the Buxwaha protected forest area of Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, Central Zone Bench, Bhopal, was pleased to order a stay the felling of trees until a prior forest clearance was obtained by the respondents. As the case is related to a multi-core diamond mine project in the area, the Hon’ble NGT's decision related to Mr Sharma's application was approved and covered widely by the media. Later, the founders filed another application before the Hon’ble NGT relating to the rising pollution in Motia Talab, adjacent to the grand Taj-ul-mazjid in Bhopal which was also argued in person. This case marked their first win at the young age of 19. Both the founders share a vision of helping the society and increasing legal literacy among people.
