CÚRE & PENABAD Architecture seeks to create an architecture of place where the design of buildings and the shaping of cities is inextricably linked. The practice seeks to find beauty in differences and is drawn to what makes an environment unique. Inspiration is found in both the vernacular and the academic; in the ancient and the contemporary; in the commonplace and the extraordinary. As such the architectural output of the firm is eclectic, molded by the particular circumstances of each setting and client. Ultimately, the portfolio of projects, both domestic and international, is invested in creating new buildings and places of identity and wholeness. The practice has received numerous design prizes including over 20 American Institute of Architects design awards. Most recently the firm was awarded the Emerging Voices prize from the Architectural League of New York, a competition that recognizes individuals with a distinct design voice and a significant body of realized work.
