Overview

For over 45 years, Brooklyn Child and Family Services, Inc., has been serving Brooklyn’s underserved children and families. As a non-profit, community-based organization, our mission is to empower, educate and inspire kids and families to achieve self-sufficiency and build an environment that’s conducive to healthy development. Programs Every day of the year, staff and over 100 volunteers serve over 500 families through three core programs, run in three separate centers in Fort Greene and Bedford Stuyvesant: Child Development and Education Our child development, early care and education center is located on Rockwell Place in Fort Greene. Serves low-income families who receive child care and educational services from our Early Head Start, Head Start and Universal Pre-K programs. We also provide a range of classes and services for youth and adults. Transitional Housing The Rose F. Kennedy Family Center in Bedford Stuyvesant provides transitional residence for homeless, pregnant and parenting young women and their children, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Affordable Housing The Rosa Parks Apartments in Bedford Stuyvesant offers affordable permanent housing for vulnerable families. Paired with supportive services these facilities provide a necessary bridge between transitional housing and independent living. Funding As a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) organization, Brooklyn Child and Family Services receive funding from a range of public, foundation and private sources. Our Early Head Start / Head Start Program is federally funded by the Department of Health & Human Services Administration for Children and Families.
