Overview

Founded in 1974 with support from the British Embassy, BSJ is a not-for-profit international school with British heritage, for boys and girls from around the world aged 2 to 18. The School is located in 18 hectares of green space, on the south-westerly outskirts of Jakarta. Around 1,400 children study at BSJ, and there are over 130 members of academic staff, most of whom trained in the United Kingdom (UK). At Foundation Stage, BSJ follows the UK’s Early Years Curriculum. In Years One to Six, BSJ teaches a blend of the National Curriculum in England and the International Primary Curriculum. Students in Years Seven to Nine follow an academic programme based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, adapted to an international context. The curriculum in Years Ten and 11 culminates in IGCSE examinations, set in the UK. In Sixth Form, students study for the International Baccalaureate diploma. Students from BSJ go on to attend some of the most selective universities globally, with the majority opting to study in the UK and USA.
