Overview

MISSION: Brightstar Community's mission is to help women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction find healing, hope, and freedom. We do this by providing safe and supportive housing, the opportunity for economic independence, and a strong community of advocates and partners. We believe that in the end, love is the most powerful force for change in the world. MODEL: Brightstar Community is a member of the Thistle Farms National Network which is the largest network in the United States committed to a housing-first model for survivors. Women survivors emerged from Thistle Farms equipped to lead. They are at the helm of this national movement. Advocates, survivors, and artisans know that working together enables all groups to thrive. Each organization is independent but shares the same core values and is able to sustainably grow and evolve. There are currently 569 beds across the country for women survivors with 92 sister organizations in our network, with 57 open residential programs and 33 still in development. Brightstar Community is the ONLY sister organization in the network located in New York State.
