Black Professional Scholarship Fund (BPSF)

Non-profit Organizations

Overview

What is the Black Professionals Scholarship Fund? The BPSF was formed in 2014 as a response to some of the challenges facing the education system in South Africa, as well as a commitment to finding a feasible and measurable response to these challenges. We are a group of young black professionals who have started a scholarship fund modelled around a stokvel, where, on a monthly basis, we contribute a nominal amount from our salaries which then goes into funding the tertiary studies of gifted but disadvantaged students. To date, the BPSF has been able to fund the studies (accommodation and fees) of three students, one of which is studying law at the University of Johannesburg, the other who is studying a BComm(Accounting )degree at Wits University and another student who is studying Civil Engineering at the University of Pretoria. In addition to this, members of the BPSF provide mentorship to our students in an effort to make the transition from high school to university more manageable. #Vision2020 - The overriding goal for the organisation is fund at least 10 students by 2020. You can get involved by becoming a contributing member to the fund, joining a committee or making a pledge to the fund. We would love to hear from you!
