Overview

The BPD Society of BC was founded in 2012 in an effort to fill the gaps in service for folks living with BPD and their loved ones. The Society’s goal is to create awareness of the stigma that exists around BPD, educate the public on evidence-based research on BPD and its treatments, and support the BPD community to live a life worth living through peer support, validation, system navigation, and access to appropriate services. In 2010, we started a small support group in Victoria, BC, by and for those living with BPD. Throughout the years, our groups expanded to Nanaimo, Vernon, Vancouver, and New Westminster - which are now being delivered virtually to meet the needs of the community and support rural and remote communities. We provide hope, validation, and shared experience through our weekly peer-led support group. We have a speaker’s bureau for medical professionals, schools, and non-profits, wanting to learn more about BPD, and how best to support an individual living with BPD. We continue to advocate and raise funds for affordable and timely access to Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), as it is the current gold standard treatment for folks living with BPD. We recently developed and implemented a pilot DBT Multi Skills group and aim to run in the future!
