Basketball Club "Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences" is located in Latvia, Valmiera and it was stablished in 2009. Since the establishment the main goal is to create a professional and competitive basketball club, although it isn’t the only aim. The club wants to create a new and competitive basketball generations in Valmiera. It wants to ensure young athletes to continue to play basketball and to study at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences after graduation from secondary school. The clubs wants to prove that it’s possible for young athletes to develop their athletic skills and to obtain a competitive higher education at the same time. Also, the club is trying to create a team which is attractive to viewers and supporters, to popularize Valmiera and Vidzeme University of Applied ciences and, of course, to provide the oppurtinity for young people to continue to study and to self-improve themselves in their region. One of the basketball club’s "Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences" greatest achievements is victory in the 2011 – 2012 Latvian Basketball League’s Third Division. This title gave the rights to participate in the Latvian Basketball League’s Second Division. Also, the club is actively participating in Student Basketball League and in Valmiera City Championship in Basketball. Basketball Club "Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences" also has its own vision of the future. Firstly, it wants to create a team, whose core consists of students from Valmiera and Vidzeme. Secondly, to become a top 3 basketball Universoty in Latvia, Thirdly, to get in Basketball League’s Supreme Divison. Another important point is to become an honest, transparent and fans sympathetic basketball club and finally to become the most popular basketball club of Vidzeme.
