Overview

The Birth & Trauma Support Center exists to bring human and trauma-informed practice into maternity care in the United States. We serve both providers and patients by - Education - Support - Prevention Our organization seeks to fill the practice gap in maternity care- equipping providers with the understanding and skills necessary so that they can provide trauma-informed maternity care for patients and clients. Trauma-Informed Resources: The Center maintains a provider list for those who practice trauma-informed care so that prospective patients and clients can find care givers who understand. Trauma-Informed Care: We understand that modern medicine is asking much more of providers than ever before. In addition to high quality medical care, policy and institutional pressures, and long demanding hours; providers must also practice with an integrative mindset. We seek to make integrative care as effortless as possible but equipping providers to - Provide care to trauma survivors - Approach care with awareness of the impact of trauma on physical health - Practice medicine in a way that prevents psychological trauma In addition, The B&TSC provides training and support for providers who experience trauma in the line of work. It is only when we recognize the role of trauma in medical care that we can begin to truly heal.
