Overview

An estimated five million bars of waste or unused soap in Hotels are thrown away every day. Yet this most basic form of medicine is not available to many communities vulnerable to disease and other hygiene challenges. The collection of soap waste can prevent thousands of tonnes of useable soap ending up in a landfill. 2 million children die of diseases – like diarrhoea and pneumonia – that can be prevented by regular hand washing. Poor hygiene is responsible for 1 out of every 9 child deaths – that’s more than AIDS, measles and malaria combined. Handwashing with soap can reduce the number of diarrhoea cases by more than 40 per cent. By recycling soap, we not only reduce landfill waste and the use of raw materials, we give it a second life, one that saves lives. Alongside the Global Charitable Organisation, Rapid Relief Team (RRT), we distribute the soap to those in need and educate vulnerable communities about disease prevention and management. Plastic waste is also a major challenge facing the accommodation industry today. More than 500 million plastic bottles end up in landfill every year. Beyond Skin Deep in partnership with Future Post NZ recycle plastic bathroom amenity waste. These are re-manufactured into plastic fence posts for farmers and wineries. Plastic posts are better performing and longer lasting than traditional timber posts. No moisture, splitting, cracking or rotting, impenetrable by water, frosts, insects and fungi, non-conductive – no insulators required / saves time, labour and cost, as strong as a timber post but with additional flexibility, can be post-driven, cut, drilled, nailed, screwed, bolted and stapled, consistent size and grade, improves visual aesthetics of your fence line, UV stable and with a 50+ year life expectancy. Beyond Skin Deep have actually achieved the ambitious goal of ZERO bathroom amenity waste. Join Us. You Can. You Should.
