Overview

The Berlin Film Society is an organisation dedicated to showcasing and providing a platform for thought-provoking, innovative, and compelling films from around the world, many of which might otherwise not be seen. We organise experiential film events in unique spaces in Berlin, London, New York and LA, as well as curate special film events for independent cinemas. Our film programme is eclectic, progressive and unusual; we cherry pick films from festivals around the world, as well as bring back forgotten masterpieces and cult classics that deserve to be seen on the big screen again. We celebrate pioneering filmmakers and have previously hosted and premiered films by Joshua Oppenheimer (The Act of Killing), Sean Baker (Tangerine), Roger Ross Williams (God Loves Uganda), and Erika Lust (XConfessions). Our events often feature relevant brands that might have a connection to the film, the director or a particular theme; we enjoy finding the links between brands and our film programme, creating authentic ways to integrate products that our audiences will love. Berlin Film Society is an independent non-profit organisation (founded in 2012) which prides itself on showcasing independent and auteur cinema in Berlin, as well as championing new, innovative filmmaking talent, such as Joshua Oppenheimer (The Act of Killing), Roger Ross Williams (God Loves Uganda), Sean Baker (Tangerine) and Erika Lust (XConfessions). One of our central aims is to establish a multicultural dialogue among members of diverse cultures in Berlin.
