Headed by its President, Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, the Batangas State University is a Level IV state university located in the CALABARZON Region. The University is recognized as a Center of Excellence in Electronics Engineering and Centers of Development in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Development Communication and Teacher Education. It is the only state university in the country whose Engineering, and Information Technology programs are accredited by the US Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) –Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) and -Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) respectively. Recently, it received three (3) Stars in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars University Rating and thus listed in the QS Top Universities. Pioneering programs on technopreneurship and innovation, the University was recognized by the Regional Development Council as the CALABARZON’s Center for Technology Business Incubation and Development and Center for Science, Technology, Engineering and Environment Research. Through Presidential Proclamation No. 947, President Rodrigo R. Duterte designated the BatStateU Knowledge, Innovation and Science Technology (KIST) Park as a Special Economic Zone. It is the first KIST Park registered by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
