"A musician behind a desk. tragedy." Those 6 words pretty much sum up "why" Bandbox exists. Being a musician can be a tough gig. Let's face it, skinny jeans are expensive, the band van drinks gas like an out of shape dude in a marathon drinks Gatorade, and playing shows at venues that max out at 236 people just isn't going to make anybody rich. Bandbox was founded in 2007 by musicians who thought there had to be a better way for musicians to make a living. There had to be a better way for musicians to sell music without the middlemen. There had to be a better way for musicians to control the sale of their music. We weren't convinced that anyone (even if your name is Steve and you do make cool computers) should take our/your hard earned money, push $.99 songs down our fans throats and tell you and I when we can and can't sell our music. Hence Bandbox. Since our public launch in May of 2009, thousands of artists (signed and unsigned, super popular and not so super popular) have experienced the power of selling directly to their fans through Bandbox. We're based in Nashville, we play guitar (a prerequisite for living in Nashville), we wear jeans and sneakers (does anybody else still call them sneakers?) to the office, and we take great pride in getting to work with the artists who are pioneering the new music economy.
