Overview

The Australasian Birth Trauma Association (ABTA) is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to increase community and professional understanding of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of birth-related trauma (meaning the birth results in physical and/or psychological injuries), whilst supporting affected families. 1 in 3 women identify their birth as traumatic, of those women one in 20 will go on to develop symptoms of post-traumatic stress and 1 in 4 will sustain major physical trauma. Fathers, partners and health professionals can also experience trauma from the birth process. ABTA's vision for safer births and better healing.
