Overview

The burnt wood of its ancestral name Yakisugi (焼き杉, literally grilled cedar or burnt cedar) is an eco-responsible technique for protecting wood from Japan. It is obtained by deeply burning the surface of a wooden board. The material thus obtained is reputed to be more resistant to fire, insects and fungi. It does not require any protective chemicals for over 80 years. ATELIER BOIS NOIR is above all the love of wood and its texture. Our approach to minimalist design places great emphasis on the black color.
