Overview

ASUW: The University of Wyoming's Student Government Founded on February 27, 1913 The student body elects qualified students to represent the freshman class, each college, and the entire student body at the university. The selected group is the ASUW Student Government and it functions like any democratic system-with an executive, legislative, and judicial branch. Executive Branch- The ASUW President and Vice President are accompanied by 9 other executive students. They promote and oversee programs and services, and carry out legislative action. The President also serves as an ex-officio on the UW Board of Trustees. Legislative Branch- The ASUW Vice President and 30 senators (elected from their respective colleges) form the Senate. The senators operate 8 different committees. This branch is responsible for researching, writing, and enacting bills and resolutions that better the overall student experience. Judicial Council- A chief justice and six associate justices are the final authority for interpreting all policies, procedures, and actions pursuant to the ASUW Student Government.
