Ashtanga Yoga Garage was founded by Anjit Suhag and Vineet Kumar. Anjit Suhag himself is a yoga practitioner and a teacher. Through our experiences, we believe that Ashtanga yoga is the most wholesome and systematic way of asana practice. Yoga in its vastness and highest potential is no doubt an esoteric practice and is something which cannot be bought or learnt in a short span of time. Our vision is to introduce people to the practical aspects of yoga, specifically asana practice based on where we are as a collective society in the present day and age. Our aim to stay away from the trendy business model of “spirituality” and get into the practical way of bringing yoga into our lives. We visualize the asana practice aspect of yoga to reach every kind of practitioner irrespective of their body type, flexibility, strength, so on and so forth. It is to bring the asana aspect of yoga as a medium and a tool for a healthy body and a clear mind. We believe that it is impractical to lead an ascetic life far from responsibilities and duties towards our families and communities. Life is but a vacation or a retreat. Yoga is incredibly vast, and we do not aim to become enlightened or ‘holier than thou’ or use the common yoga terminologies loosely to gain traction. However, what we aim for is to spread the practical and appropriate aspects of yoga based on current lifestyles. We encourage the students to use their critical thinking skills and question the logic behind what and why they practice. Idolization of teachers and “gurus” is something that we stray away from, instead we encourage the students to be engrossed in the study of their practice itself. We understand that each body is different so is each day and our energy levels on a particular day. Forcing our body and mind for the practice does more harm than good. An ideal practice is one that matches our energy levels and requirements for the day.
