Army Welfare Project Limited was established in 1976 and its corporate Head Office is located in Phuntsholing. Its main business is the production and sale of alcohol products. Since 2011, AWPL added wines to its product list. Premium brands are produced at Gelephu Unit. It also manufactures flavoring materials and chemicals for the AWPL products. The Research & Development (R&D) Unit under the AWPL is also based at Gelephu Unit. Regular and wine brands are produced at Samtse Unit.
