Aotearoa New Zealand Cluster Munition Coalition

Civic and Social Organizations

Overview

The Aotearoa New Zealand Cluster Munition Coalition (ANZCMC) is a national network of 23 local non-governmental organizations establishment on 22 March 2007 in support of the international call to stop cluster munitions from harming civilians. In 2007-2008, the ANZCMC worked to ensure that the New Zealand government took strong leadership in the “Oslo Process” to create an international instrument banning cluster munitions and requiring assistance to cluster munition survivors and clearance of contaminated areas. In February 2009, the coalition decided to continue until the New Zealand government ratifies the 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions.
