Overview

Anne Minard is a freelance writer in Flagstaff, Arizona. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master’s degree, also in biology, from Flagstaff’s Northern Arizona University. She began her career as a science and environmental reporter for newspapers in the West. Her early writing won awards from the Arizona Associated Press Managing Editor’s Association (APME) and the Arizona Press Club, among other organizations. For several years, she also reported and produced stories for KNAU/Arizona Public Radio, Flagstaff’s National Public Radio affiliate. A freelance science journalist in recent years, Anne has written stories for National Geographic News, the New York Times and many other outlets. Her first book, Pluto and Beyond, was published in 2007, and in May 2010 she completed a yearlong Ted Scripps Fellowship for Environmental Journalism, at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
