PREGNANCY AND INFANCY ARE TWO OF THE MOST VULNERABLE PERIODS IN HUMAN LIFE AMURTEL Greece is a REFUGE for migrant and refugee mothers providing a safe space for women and their children. Objectives and services: • To educate and train women across all services provided with the aim of providing the skills necessary to live in a new country, to empower and prepare women for ongoing education and potential employment • To facilitate the empowerment of women in crisis through increased knowledge of sexual reproductive health and antenatal and postnatal care by midwives. • To create community through the maintenance of an all-woman’s safe space where mothers who are isolated and alienated in the host country meet and form community and friendships with other like-minded mothers in similar situations • To support the rights of infants in crisis to optimum nutrition and growth by working with mothers on infant and young child feeding practices with an emphasis on breastfeeding delivered by qualified lactation consultants, and timely, appropriate introduction of solid foods at six months of age • To decrease maternal and infant morbidity through antenatal/postnatal care • Enhance life quality for refugee and migrant infants and mothers during the vulnerable times of pregnancy - 2 years • Educational support groups held in languages required by women; (Arabic, Farsi, French, Greek, English, Spanish and Ukrainian) covering topics such as reproductive health/family planning/birth preparation, infant care including breastfeeding, nutrition, safety/hygiene, sleep patterns, infant massage and first aid for infants/children. We also aim to increase our current content with a greater emphasis on the importance of responsive parenting, with an element of early childhood education from 0-2 • To train beneficiaries to become breastfeeding peer counsellors through peer-to-peer training • Gender Based Violence education and support • Outreach services for individual cases both lo
