Overview

Amplio's mission is to empower the world's most vulnerable communities through knowledge sharing. We provide inclusive digital technology and consulting services for sustainable development projects in rural and remote communities. The Amplio Talking Book is an equitable, gender-sensitive device that delivers hours of audio content on-demand in any language. It's designed for low-literate people living in hard-to-reach, rural communities. It can be programmed, and reprogrammed, with hours of content on any topic. A built-in speaker allows families and groups to listen and learn together. They can also record their feedback. The Talking Book has a rechargeable battery, so no electricity or connectivity is required. The Talking Book collects usage data and user feedback for program monitoring and evaluation. Talking Books are used to deliver consistent and accurate messages, amplify message reach, and support training and capacity building. The devices can be used by community health volunteers and extension agents, rotated among households or shared by groups. Amplio works alongside partners and consults on Talking Book program design and management, content design, behavior change communication, and monitoring and evaluation strategy. Since 2007, Talking Books have reached nearly 2M people in 13 countries. Together with partners like UNICEF and CARE, we're making an impact across many sectors — including food security and sustainable agriculture, health, education, nutrition, child protection, land rights, women's livelihoods, and more.
