The ampersand symbol (“&”) is a scribal abbreviation for “and”, with a long and rich history, dating as far back as 63 B.C. Although it has been long absent from our formal alphabet, it survived the test of time and the ampersand holds a place in our culture and language. Typography designers relish the use of the ampersand because it is a conjunction that celebrates creative expression. To us, the ampersand (“&”) conjures impressions of Partnership.
