Overview

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights is an independent, non-partisan, non-governmental human rights organization based in the Gaza Strip. Established in 1999, the Center is dedicated to protecting and advancing the respect of human rights, especially economic, social and cultural rights, and supporting victims of violations of international human rights and humanitarian law. Al Mezan’s main activities include monitoring and documentation, research, legal intervention, advocacy and awareness-raising. Through its mandate, Al Mezan strives to enhance democratic principles, community and citizen participation in governance, and respect for the rule of law in Gaza as part of occupied Palestine. The staff’s guiding principles include equal human worth and respect of all human rights, individual and collective, as enshrined in international law and jurisprudence. Al Mezan envisions a free and sovereign Palestinian society where all women, men, and children enjoy the benefits of social justice, human rights, the merit of the rule of law and good governance, fully and equally.
