Overview
AFL Tasmania Limited (trading as AFL Tasmania) is the governing body for Australian Rules football in Tasmania. The organisation is responsible for the games development in the state, including promoting grassroots participation, junior and senior community football and talent pathways for players of all ages, abilities, and gender, including managing the Tasmanian State League (TSL) and Tasmanian Women's League (TWL) competitions. The organisation is part of the Australian Football League (AFL) and was formerly known as Football Tasmania. At the end of the 2015 season, Tasmanian Football was comprised of around 39,500 total participants. From a community (club) football perspective, Tasmania has 12,125 players registered across 517 Teams, in 106 Clubs in 16 Leagues. Tasmania has provided 194 draftees into the AFL Competition since 1986, including 4 from the most recent 2015 draft.
