Advonet's ensure peoples at risk of disadvantage have their needs heard and their rights respected. It both delivers advocacy services directly and promotes independent advocacy provided by its partners in Leeds and the surrounding area. Advonet's key services are: Supporting providers of advocacy with information and training Help for those seeking advocacy in Leeds by operating a ‘single point of access’ telephone helpline Delivering independent advocacy for: ⇒People with learning disabilities ⇒People experiencing mental distress and dementia; including people who are detained in hospital or receiving treatment in the community under the Mental Health Act (IMHA) ⇒People from BME communities requiring culturally sensitive, bilingual support ⇒People who lack ‘capacity’ to make critical decisions (IMCA/ IMCA (DOLS)) ⇒Care Act advocacy ⇒People wanting support with Leeds NHS Complaints (Health Complaints Advocacy) ⇒Mentoring and other advocacy related support for people with autism ⇒Self Advocacy groups for people with learning disabilities (LEEP1 & Asking You) ⇒Self Advocacy groups for people experiencing mental distress
