Overview

Inspiring regenerative, planetary action. adifferentway is a private mentoring community for people who are striving, in their own way, to make the world a better place. When things get tough, it’s hard to avoid falling into despair where inaction takes root. When the enormity and complexity of a challenge is so overwhelming, it’s easy to give up and just roll. It doesn’t have to be that way. In between thriving in the exhilaration of success secured by doing the easy things and the grinding darkness we can feel drifting helplessly in the face of overwhelming, impending, and apparently certain horror, there’s a very narrow, liminal place where regenerative action can flourish. Not only flourish, but succeed in making things better, in turning great tides against incredible odds, so that we move back from the abyss. It’s a hair’s breadth, uncertain and often chaotic space. That’s the space where I work. When you work in darkness, you experience darkness. Trying to solve seemingly intractable problems where there is great suffering causes suffering. Being able to stay with that while grappling amidst the chaos to find a way forward is more than difficult. It’s a lonely place where few venture and fewer flourish. We need more people to live and work in that regenerative, liminal space because only from there might we find a better place. Inaction derived from despair gets us nowhere, we drift to our demise. But action derived from despair with our eyes cast forward, toward what only might be, if we strive, feels to be truly living, even if ultimately, we fall short. I help people already in that regenerative space to go further and I support others to come in, cope with the suffering and find their way to bring their unique gift to the task. If that sounds like you, consider joining us here. There's a modest monthly or annual subscription.
