Action Réfugiés Montréal, a not-for-profit organisation that is a registered charity, seeks justice for asylum-seekers and refugeed people. We promote partnerships among refugeed people, faith communities and society at large for mutual empowerment. Through our three programs we provide hope and assistance while raising awareness of refugeed people rights. Detention Program - Through Action Réfugiés Montréal’s Detention Program, we provide support to people detained for immigration reasons at the Laval Immigration Holding Centre. Action Réfugiés Montréal is the only organization to visit the Laval IHC on a weekly basis to provide support to the people who are detained there. Sponsorship Program - ARM has a private sponsorship program, where people in the Montreal region can sponsor family members who are living in a refugee situation overseas. ARM supports approved sponsors in order to prepare their files and offers follow-up services during the duration of the sponsorship period. All services are provided free of charge. Twinning Program - The goal of our Twinning Program is to create social connections for refugeed women and to allow Montreal women to learn about refugee experiences firsthand. ARM matches newly arrived refugeed women with women already living in Montreal. Through regular meetings and group activities, the “twins” create bonds of friendship and solidarity.
