Overview

ACCESS is a Strasbourg-based human rights NGO bridging the gap between grassroots human rights organizations and international institutions. We build the capacity of NGOs to engage with international organizations by supporting networks of national and grassroots civil society organizations. We are committed to supporting civil society and promoting the international human rights system in the 47 Council of Europe member states and beyond. We help ensure that human rights are effectively protected across Europe through training and education on international human rights standards and monitoring mechanisms of the Council of Europe and the United Nations. We believe that expanding skills and knowledge on the human rights system and increasing the engagement of grassroots civil society, reinforces the efficiency and rigor of our protections. To achieve this, ACCESS works with grassroots NGOs and civil society networks to increase the long-term capacity of civil society organizations to strategically engage with international organizations. We do so by: 1. Carrying out trainings and developing curriculum and other programming including through innovative online tools 2. Facilitating thematic advocacy and exchange between the human rights defenders and the Council of Europe 3. Supporting national NGO partners in report drafting and submission 4. Publishing analysis, manuals, and guides on the Council of Europe
