Overview

AED50 is the Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications in Transportation. The committee began as a Task Force on Expert Systems (A5T54) in the mid-1980s and evolved into a full committee in 1989 in response to the pressing need of transportation academicians and practitioners. Over the years, the Committee broadened its focus and scope to support and promote the deployment of advanced computing techniques in addressing today’s critical and emerging transportation challenges. AED50 bridges the gap between the Computer Science and Information Technology community and the transportation community in four research priority areas: Connected and Automated Vehicles, Big Data Analytics, Agent-based Modeling, and Smart Cities.
