Overview

The Brazilian Association for Development of Nuclear Activities (ABDAN) was founded in Rio de Janeiro in October 27, 1987. It is a non-profit organization that brings together key stakeholders of capital goods, construction and assembly, consulting and engineering, systems, equipment manufacturing and power plant operation which are related to the nuclear industry in Brazil. ABDAN‘s main objectives are to promote and spread the development and commercialization of nuclear technology and its acceptance by the public as a source of electric power generation, medical applications among others, to encourage scientific interchange with similar bodies, to provide assistance to and represent the company members which have common interests, and engage key government entities in policy development through implementation in order to move forward the overall benefits of the strategic importance of a strong commercial nuclear sector in Brazil.
