50Stars is dedicated to extraordinary individuals who have ended up in unfortunate circumstances for reasons beyond their control. Whether you are a talented 19-year-old Haredi who decided to leave yeshiva and the ultra-Orthodox world, or a combat soldier coming from a home that can’t afford a psychometric course let alone a bachelor’s degree at Yale or Harvard, this program is for you. For those people, for whom I feel a tremendous sense of responsibility, we will take 50Stars out from the sky and make sure it is accessible to you so that you can fulfill your potential. Our program will consist of two parts: We will pair these bright stars with students currently enrolled at a world-class university who will be their guide and source of support who shows them the light at the end of the tunnel. This is where we will need help in recruiting students and alumni who can serve as mentors. We also seek assistance from the Ministry of Education and the IDF in scouting the country’s brightest students in need of aid and mentorship. We plan to provide scholarships towards undergraduate studies, but also towards consulting services throughout the college admissions process (using 50Stars). Our aim is for these students to be pursue undergraduate studies, as one can get a bachelor’s degree without work experience or high school diploma (בגרויות) so long as their SAT scores are high. These scholarships would take the form of an interest-free loan for a period of 7-10 years. Receipt of the scholarship would be contingent on the recipient returning to Israel no longer than 5 years after graduation
