Conduct extensive research to support articles using a variety of independently developed sources to ensure a robust experience, and accurate consumer advice, for the reader. This includes interviewing owners and automotive subject matter experts to get real-world descriptions of various vehicles we feature. Manage Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for online content to ensure enhanced visibility and site traffic. Act as senior editor for RFD providing guidance, editing tradecraft, and advice to other contributors. In this role I establish deadlines, pitch new stories, and work with staff to produce feature articles, blog posts, and social media content in a timely manner. Work with professional photographers to choose appropriate imagery for articles and perform photography and videography on my own when needed. Produce and edit imagery for articles using Photoshop and other graphic development tools to optimize images for online use. Produce feature video content focusing on specific vehicles and comparison tests. This includes coordinating vehicles, arranging locations for shoots, establishing a storyboard/timeline for the production, and acting as on-camera talent which includes driving, comparing, and discussing vehicles while on-screen. With the billion dollar tuner industry in full swing in the early 2000s, it was becoming even more evident that automakers needed to be able to compete. So this site highlighted specialty divisions such as SVT, AMG, Mopar, etc. within major manufacturers that focused specifically on speed.
