We worked together with Veronica under the several group assignments while studied at NTNU. She always demonstrated deep knowledge and good expertise in geophysics, geology and other related subjects. She was a very nice person in terms of communication and showed a great enthusiasm about team work (no need to say that every time we worked together we received excellent marks). I can recommend Veronica as a highly qualified professional who gained additional knowledge of deep learning and data science during her PhD study. So right now she has a very extensive portfolio and can work under pressure with very complex and multidisciplinary projects both solely and in a team.

I’ve worked with Veronica on an Oil & Gas project in Villahermosa Mexico. I was impressed with her ability to grasp complex interpretation software and become productive. She proved to be a valuable asset to our team and it was a pleasure working with her.

Ph.D. Candidate in BRU 21 Research Program within the Exploration Efficiency area at the Department of Geosciences and Petroleum at NTNU. My project is in collaboration with AkerBP ASA, and it is mainly focus on proposing a novel well log database structure to provide easy access to all data and a more comprehensive organization of the well information via Python programming. In addition, I am working on developing several tools to perform automatic depth matching of LWD (logging while drilling) and EWL (Electrical Wireline logging) logs reducing user intervention and turnaround times by implementing different algorithms like cross-correlation, Dynamic time warping (DTW), and Deep learning 1-dimensional Convolutional Neural Networks (1D CNN) models as a standalone model or into a multimodal machine learning framework by testing different fusion model strategies. BRU21 project is NTNU’s Research and Innovation Program in Digital and Automation Solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry. Read more about BRU21 program here https://www.ntnu.edu/bru21 Show less

Contribute to the development of e-learning GeoCLASS modules within the CASE consortium. The e-learning modules are based on various geological and geophysical topics. My main responsibilities include the design and theoretical basis for geophysical modules. • Seismic velocities and time-depth conversion • Understanding of the seismic reflection amplitudes (AVO/AVA)Coding development for zero-offset wave propagation through a periodical layered medium by using Chapman rock physics model of equant porosity medium with aligned mesoscale fractures. Effective interval Q estimations from drift gradients in the Norwegian North Sea and interpretation of the attenuation model in terms of geological information of the area, in-situ conditions, and attenuation mechanisms. • Teaching Assistant in Seismic Interpretation
      • Jan 2017 - May 2017

Help students with their seismic interpretation exercise. In addition, give them some guidance and support for their final project. The seismic interpretation project expose students to work with real data following the standard workflow and gaining some skills handling Petrel. Firstly, working with 2D sections to have an idea of the regional geological framework and then integrating this with 3D data and well information (VSP, logs and cores). The main tasks of the project include seismic and well data QC, seismic facies analysis, petrophysical interpretation, seismic well-tie (synthetic seismogram generation), horizons and faults interpretation, seismic attribute extraction and analysis, depth conversion, prospect evaluation, risk assessment, calculate volumetric with further well proposals. SINTEF Petroleum Research (The Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research) as a part of the Geophysical Group Division. The main responsibilities were perform the feasibility study for AVO analysis under the assumption of two different fluid distribution models (uniform and patchy) in the Utsira formation at the Sleipner field (Norwegian sector of the North Sea). These fluid distribution models are based on Biot’s poroelasticity theory modified by Pride et al. (2005).The main goal is to understand how the fluid distribution influence the AVO attributes response when it comes to lithofacies identification. In these case, discriminate the interlayer shales from the sandstones partially saturated with CO2 at different concentrations. In addition, a zero offset reflection and transmission response simulation for a stack of periodic layered medium, that resembles to the Utsira reservoir configuration, was also investigated to have a better understanding of the combining tuning and partial saturation effects (intrinsic attenuation due to mesoscale heterogeneities) and how these can affect the AVO applications. The main activities and responsibilities are: provide assistance related to the handle of Kingdom Suit in all of its modules to the costumers, develop particular stages in multidisciplinary projects for Comesa (Mexico), and make software evaluation for PDVSA Exploration. This job has helped me to deal with the clients, understand their needs and solving problems quickly. I have acquired wide knowledge in handling commercial interpretation module software such as 2d3dPAK, AvoPAK, VelPAK, SynPAK, Rock Solid Attributes, Microseismic and Colored Inversion. Building a velocity model, time depth conversion and generation of structural maps in depth, time and depth structural profiles of the Juspi Field, Mexico. Kingdom Suit, VelPAK module version 8.6. The position within the company was a long internship in which I had to apply a new method for building a 3D velocity model from a 2D offshore survey in the Gulf of Venezuela. • This work helped me keep in touch with the real and general framework and workflow within exploration, offshore and gas field in the most important oil company in my native country. Also, I gained knowledge about seismic interpretation, seismic processing and building of velocity models. Furthermore I had to manage two useful and technological interpretation software such as LANDMARK and GOCAD. • 2D Seismic interpretation in an offshore area, about 5000Km2 (Golf of Venezuela). Halliburton, Landmark SeisWorks 2D. • Building of structural model. Paradigm Earth Decision, Gocad V 2.5.2. • Geostatistics research of RMS velocities and intervallic velocities. • Building of 3D velocity model, Time-depth conversion and generation of structural maps in depth.
