Structural stability and point defect diffusion in cementite: First-principles analysis I worked to understand the structural stability of cementite when subjected to conditions of tensile strain and also the diffusion of various point defects in cementite. First-principles density functional theory (DFT) based theoretical analysis was employed to understand the properties cementite using Quantum Espresso package (v6.4.1). Studies of Chromospheric plages from Kodaikanal Data The Ca II K spectroheliograms at Kodaikanal Solar Observatory is dominated by plages and network which are the main contributors to solar irradiance. I studied the variation of the plage index for a duration of two solar cycles. It serves as a good proxy to understand UV irradiance that drives the Earth’s climate. IDL codes were employed for initial calibration and further analysis of the archival data.
