• Established in acute medical - surgical, telemetry, and step-down unit patient care which includes assessment, counseling, education regarding medications and treatment, lab work, documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system with care plan for diagnosis, and administration of treatment procedures. • Manages care for patients on cardiac monitors, with seizures, on VEEG, on ventilators, with COPD, asthma, CHF, gastroenteritis, pre- and post appendectomy, colonoscopy, EGD; with acute or chronic renal failure, on HD, with nephrostomy tubes, post cystoscopy, TURP with CBI; cellulitis, abscesses etc. • Safe and accurate performance of treatments and procedures in accordance with the hospital policies and JCAHO standards of care and practice • Prioritizes based on dynamic patient needs and individualizes goal directed nursing care using the nursing process. • Communicates appropriately with patients, families, physicians, peers, and other members of the health care team and works as a team player. • Educates patient and family regarding management of chronic illness and/or prevention of recurrence, medications, discharge instructions, and wound care as needed. • Provides psychosocial support for patient and family by building a rapport with empathetic listening and culturally competent nursing. • Proficient in all computer documentation (EMR)/record maintenance/paperwork to ensure accuracy and patient confidentiality. • Managed being a charge nurse making assignments for the RNs, LPNs and CNAs and has also been a preceptor to new hires. • Committed to continued professional training
