Project Engineer - Studio Engineering
-
Sep 2017 - Aug 2020
Whilst working as a Project Engineer in Studio Engineering, Design Technical, I have covered several areas of the vehicle. Initially after finishing my apprenticeship, I worked on the exterior of the car to ensure that certain parts of the car were feasible. This included learning about stamping of a vehicle bodyside, the impact different materials have on this and how the materials deform to create the desired shape. I used this knowledge to ensure that all design rules, legal requirements and manufacturing rules were met in my feasibility studies and proposals. I also worked on the interior doors on two different vehicles. I built relationships with designers, other engineers and suppliers to achieve the best compromise for the door taking into account ergonomics, legal requirements, design rules and aesthetic appearance. This was a steep learning curve as it was the first time I had worked on the interior of the car but I enjoyed the challenge of learning a new area and picked up the working processes quickly. In December 2018, my role changed to work solely on Exterior Lighting. This was, again, a lot to learn but I have enjoyed, and am still enjoying, pushing myself to produce the best work possible. I have learned a lot in my time as a Studio Engineer and look forward to facing new challenges with the same enthusiasm. Show less

Higher Apprentice - Design Engineer
-
Sep 2012 - Aug 2017
Working within Design Technical whilst also studying for a Bachelors degree in Applied Engineering at University of Warwick, NVQ L4 and other qualifications.I worked in Advance Studio Engineering through the majority of my apprenticeship, this involved completing benchmark studies of our own and competitor vehicles using physical studies and interrogation of CAD data.I undertook full vehicle package layout with the assistance of senior engineers using volume and proportion targets from programme assumptions. I completed all my academic studies to a high standard whilst working full time, achieving the highest possible grades in every qualification including a First Class Bachelors degree with honours.I was a member of the Apprentice Forum, through which I mentored junior apprentices and assisted with their transition from college to the work place. I was selected to represent Jaguar Land Rover at the Business in the Community awards at the Royal Albert Hall in July 2014.I organised a departmental visit to Solihull Manufacturing Site to improve the whole departments knowledge of processes as well as creating networking links with different areas of the company.I represented Jaguar Land Rover at multiple CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) events such as presenting to several schools to inspire young people into engineering careers. As part of my apprenticeship, I completed a placement in AVA (Associative Vehicle Architecture). During this placement, I designed and modeled an autonomous optimising CAD product which saved ~40 hours of work per vehicle programme. I created several 3D kinematic and parametric models in both Catia V5 and V6 which gave me the necessary experience to complete the AVA Foundation and Creator courses. Show less

Security Officer
-
Jun 2009 - Aug 2012
As a relief security officer, I was expected to work at any of the G4S sites in the area and was also called upon at short notice to cover shifts. I worked shifts at all times, day or night and had to understand new systems and security protocols quickly to be able to ensure the security was not compromised. I used several different CCTV and radio systems and was responsible for the maintained security of buildings, people and property.
