As part of my consulting work at the Northside Development Corporation (NDC), I served as Project Manager for over 6 years. In this role I managed the day to day redevelopment of the Northside Neighborhood in Spartanburg SC. As part of my tenure there I led a Mastering Planning effort as part of a Choice Planning Grant awarded to the City of Spartanburg and the Spartanburg Housing Authority. NDC is the lead community development corporation and community quarterback leading the planning and implementation of the plan. As part of my role at NDC, I helped to develop and implement a multi -tiered housing strategy along with the implementation of key community economic development projects in addition to managing several supportive services programs. Projects included but not limited to closing three New Market Tax Credit Projects (an Early Learning Center, a Mixed Use Mixed Income Project, and a Community Center), and 4% Mixed Income Affordable Housing Bond Deal totaling all totaling over $60M in construction development projects. In addition to these development efforts, in my tenure at NDC I helped to create and manage several supportive services programs with key community partners including an Entrepreneurship program and construction training/apprenticeship program.

I serve as the Community Development Manager for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond at the Charlotte, North Carolina Branch. As a Regional Community Development Manager, I am responsible for community economic development outreach and education for North and South Carolina on behalf of the Community Affairs Office. The Community Affairs Office’s strategic areas of focus include developing and producing programming around stabilizing and revitalizing communities impacted by foreclosure, strengthening community banks and CDFIs, developing and enhancing capacity in the non-profit community development organizations and educating consumers about financial products, services and innovation. As a Community Development Manager my work entails working with local organizations and key industry leaders to indentify community development issues and opportunities around these topics. We work with financial institutions, public and private organizations and community leaders to facilitate high quality programming and discussions on solution based approaches to challenging community development issues by offering innovative strategies and technical assistance that is grounded in practical experience and applied research. Our work addresses a broad spectrum of challenges confronting low to moderate income communities.

As the Executive Director of the Trust, I served as the Chief Executive Officer ensuring fiscal, legal, and reporting accountability for all activities; preparing and implementing annual action plans and five year strategic plans including fiscal forecasts, reports and budgets. Besides the day to day operations of the Trust I worked with financial institutions, governmental agencies, housing developers, community-based organizations, and other interested parties to foster the development of affordable housing throughout South Carolina. In just six years, I built the staff of one to five and lead the organization to over $10M in assets including being designated as Charleston areas lead entity for administering over $7M in Neighborhood Stabilization funding (NSP) as part of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act in 2008 to assist with foreclosures and successfully awarded over $1.4M from the CDFI fund from 2007-2010.
