  As a seedling grower I was involved in all aspects of forestry seedling culture in greenhouses, outdoor compounds and bareroot fields. This included upgrading tree seed, regulating seedling growth through temperature, nutrients and photoperiod, monitoring and treating insect/disease outbreaks, testing for cold hardiness and adjudicating seedlings. While head grower at PRT Chilliwack, I was responsible for the overall culture of the seedling crop and supervised a crew of four assistant growers. During my last six months I was promoted to acting superintendent of the PRT Chilliwack nursery. As superintendent I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the nursery, employee supervision, budgeting and planning. I supervised large crews sowing, thinning, weeding and lifting crops at various times throughout the seedling production cycle. Show less
