      As a result of my hard work and determination throughout my time at MDJ and during my ACCA studies, I was given the incredible opportunity to become a Company Director and work alongside MDJ Services founder David Jenkins in running the company. As Company Director I have taken responsibility for the company’s ‘Practice Management’, and therefore my time is split between two main roles; Accounting duties and Practice Management duties.My Accounting duties include;- Managing a large portfolio of clients from a wide variety of industries, specialising in start-ups and SME’s.- Accounts preparation for our larger clients.- Overseeing FRS102 and FRS105 adoption throughout the company.- Producing monthly and quarterly management accounts and bespoke reports, and presenting these at client management meetings.- Advising and assisting clients with tax planning and business planning.My Practice Management duties include;- Holding initial meetings with new and prospective clients, discussing their needs and negotiating fees.- Controlling and preparing staff workloads to ensure all deadlines and targets are met.- Training our trainee accountants, and overseeing and reviewing their work.- Keeping up-to-date with all relevant legislation and accounting standards, followed by informing and advising all accounting staff.- Keeping a strict eye on time-ledger costing's and billing, subsequently investigating any variances necessary.- Attending and hosting networking events.Since taking on the role as Company Director I have created and implemented a new client database which has become the main source of client information, deadline and workload control, and client analysis throughout the office. I have also taken the lead on our marketing strategy which has involved prompting the use of social media and other sources of inbound marketing alongside our current and well established systems. This was followed up by project managing our rebrand and new website.

      My duties as an account manager include all of the below from my previous role in addition to; - Reporting directly to the Partner, undertaking a split role of Accounts preparation, Management Accounts and Tax. - Managing an increasing portfolio of clients from a wide variety of industries, including being the first point of contact for client queries, specialising in start-ups and SME's. - Managing, scheduling and overseeing the workload of up to three trainee members of staff, with responsibility for reviewing completed work, before forwarding to Partner for review or reporting directly to the client. - Accounts preparation from complete and incomplete records, reporting to UKGAAP standards and FRSSE 15 (with beginnings of FRS102 adoption ongoing). - Being the main point of contact for alterations and amendments for all of the firms' client's following partner review. - Producing monthly and quarterly management accounts and bespoke management reports. - Ensuring all statutory deadlines are met, including liaising with other departments where necessary to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. - Preparing, finalising and submitting corporation tax computations and CT600s. - Providing independent and personal business and financial guidance and advice. - Corresponding with outside businesses, lenders and authorities on my clients' behalf. - Attending local networking events to introduce new clients to the firm, as well as through referrals and recommendations from existing clients.
