In my role as the Breakfast Producer of Heart Breakfast with Rich and Zoe at Heart Solent, I demonstrated my ability to handle all elements of a busy breakfast show. My calm and organised approach to talent managing the presenters allowed me to keep them focused and to create a productive environment. To ensure the show was planned in as much detail as possible, I completed planning meetings with Rich and Zoe to get the maximum potential out of each content strand. I was responsible for supporting them with audio content, accurate travel bulletins and compliance guidance to ensure the content was within Ofcom guidelines. One element of my role was to maintain the social media presence of the breakfast show. • Sep 2012 - Nov 2015

In my role at BBC Radio Northampton, I worked as a freelance Broadcast Assistant across the programming output, including the busy weekend Sport programme. I desk-drived the programme from the station and used my talent management skills to direct the commentators on what was required of them to deliver the programme to its maximum potential. Through my guidance, I ensured the programme stuck to the busy pre-planned running order and relayed messages through talkback to the commentators to control the pace of the programme and to provide live match updates. When the programme was split across FM and DAB to cover different matches, my direction for talent was important to help keep them across what was happening and what they needed to do. Working on this show required me to demonstrate my ability to edit quickly in live situations. I provided highlight packages from the day's games and supplied interview cues and clips for news bulletins. When working on weekday Daytime Programming, I researched news stories that affected the core of the listenership and prepared contributors to discuss them in more detail. I supplied the presenter with cues and questions to get the best out of interviewees, offering direction on the best approach I felt they should take to get the best responses. I then collated this information in a detailed running order on ENPS. I managed calls from listeners, collecting their input on topics on the show and used my judgement to decide whether or not to include them as on-air contributors, depending on if I felt they could positively add something to the show.

Scratch Radio is Birmingham City University’s student radio station. As Station Manager, it was my responsibility to ensure the station broadcast efficiently and successfully on a day to day basis. It was my role to motivate the team of people around me to achieve targets set out by the committee, at the beginning of the academic year. I chaired monthly meetings with my committee to ensure the station was on track to complete its targets and was responsible for maintaining regular contact with Birmingham City University’s Student’s Union. I was accountable for all of the final decisions the station took in accordance with policies and regulations stipulated by the Student's Union. I worked closely with my Programme Controller to manage talent we had on the station and representing us across the University. I delegated to my Events Coordinator what our aims were to promote the brand around different University campuses. I also signed off on all station branding before it was scheduled for broadcast. During my tenure in charge, I led the full-scale rebrand and relocation of the station to its new site at the Parkside Campus in Birmingham city centre. As a result, this provided a solid platform for the station to achieve success for its efforts in the 2013-2014 academic year. Scratch Radio won two SRA awards and the Radio Academy 'Nations and Regions Award' for the Midlands, for an audience under 300,000.
