Ms. Duan Xuefei is an enthusiastic and resourceful worker. She is very self motivated and has high expectations for herself. She will be a valuable asset to your organization. I have worked with Ms. Duan Xuefei for about three years. My first interaction with her was when she was assigned to the Scheduling Group responsible for scheduling system startup tests. She was very knowledgeable about details of the test schedule and diligent to keep my test team informed of our scheduled testing activities. Ms. Duan Xuefei was always able to answer any questions regarding conflicts or delays to testing. Ms. Duan Xuefei is always willing to learn more. On her own time, she studied her assigned mechanical systems to better understand their overall function and relationship with other systems. This provided her greater insight into the overall test schedule. Also, she is very willing to accept additional responsibilities and has a strong desire to improve her overall skills and knowledge. An example of this is her readiness to support my team in startup / commissioning of the Chill Water System for the AP1000 nuclear power plant. She continued her full-time responsibilities as a scheduler and still found time to assist my team with field testing. She was very quick to learn our testing methodology. She was enthusiastic about testing; exhibited great effort; and was always conscious of safety rules. Later, she supported my team by leading the effort for component testing of part of the General Ventilation System. Another example of her self motivation is her achievement of the PMP Certification. This was accomplished on her own time and at her own expense. Later, her scheduling duties expanded to the Integrated Plant Schedule (IPS) for Haiyang Unit 2. This included managing the schedule for major milestones like Cold Hydrostatic Test of the Reactor Coolant System; Hot Functional Test for Unit 2; and Unit 2 Startup Testing. These are complex milestones that require significant coordination between all major testing groups. She performed admirably in maintaining the Unit 2 IPS schedule. I strongly recommend Ms. Duan Xuefei. She is a valued member of the Scheduling Group and serves the project in a highly commendable fashion. She is always willing to accept greater responsibility and prepares herself well to fulfill new tasks. Feel free to contact me as indicated below if needed. Sincerely, Arthur S. It has been my privilege to work with Duan Xuefei (Sophie) for more than 7 years in her various assignments and positions while completing the construction, turnover, and commissioning and startup testing for the two AP1000 reactors built in Haiyang, Shandong, China. Over the course of those years she has had a number of interfaces with me in my roles. Sophie was assigned to me as a teaming partner for the creation and initiation of a consolidated Test Review Board. She assisted in the creation and translation of Administration procedures used for the commissioning and startup processes. She was a key team leader in various construction completion verification teams. She created schedules that supported the commissioning and startup of the world’s most advanced Pressurized Water Reactors, and she provided schedule updates, modifications, and remediation/mitigation adjustments necessary to complete these AP1000® nuclear power plants. Each of those roles and shared responsibilities provided me with opportunities to observe her performance, work ethic and commitment, leadership, integrity, professionalism, and intellectual capability for identify problems and possible solutions in a broad spectrum of challenging and difficult situations. Sophie accomplishes her tasks with minimal oversight. She understands the means necessary to accomplish work and to support deadlines and milestones; she uses that knowledge and ability to be successful. She uses her time wisely and efficiently. She is a dependable, capable contributor, and a strong leader when given those opportunities. She is able to work with various parties and disciplines in different organizations and companies including across different contracts to complete assignments and obtain consensus. She is helpful and willing to assist others to complete work assignments as necessary for project success. I have observed her mentoring and encouraging new employees and seasoned staff to achieve project success. She attended meetings with me and often served as my interpreter in those meetings when official interpreters were not available. I asked her to assist in explaining complex and difficult processes to workers, leaders, and management. This required an in-depth understanding of the process in addition to the often challenging vocabulary associated with those concepts in both Chinese and English. Her ability to explain those concepts in a manner that ensured understanding and comprehension while addressing questions and concerns expressed both in English and Chinese was exceptional. The highest recommendation that I can give to someone is that I would choose them to be on my work team again; I will look for opportunities to bring her to my next team and would definitely work with Sophie on future projects.
