    • Senior Advisor
      • Feb 2006 - Feb 2008

In 2005 New Zealand released a world leading framework for the use of information and communication technology in the early childhood education sector. Online applications and resources were critical to the delivery of this work program. As senior advisor, I was responsible for initiating and delivering the projects to support this implementation. To achieve this I worked across the curriculum, regulatory, resourcing and other related business teams as well as engaging key external stakeholders from the early childhood sector and other government agencies. I developed the strategic direction for how early childhood sector online information would be presented and project managed the delivery of the first part of strategy – a consultation website for the new regulatory framework which provided the foundation for a new site supporting the management and administration of early childhood services. I coordinated the communications planning and delivery for the entire early childhood ICT framework program, was involved in day to day staff recruitment and management, business planning, and financial management including budget re-phasing. As a member of the Early Childhood Curriculum team I provided peer review and input to professional development initiatives particularly the Early Childhood Education ICT Professional Development program and Centres of Innovation. I also provided support for the Ministry’s parent information publication program (Team-Up) including content selection, content review, design brief and approval. Show less

edCentre was an education sector portal developed at the request of the Minister of Education to support access to the combined information resources of the seven New Zealand education sector agencies. It was an early attempt to improve access to government services. I was responsible for ongoing management and site promotion as it moved from the project phase to business as usual. I also overviewed the final testing and scoping for the next project phase. I managed relationships with communications and online managers from the education sector agencies to ensure edCentre reflected a full and current range of sector information. This included agreement on a charter and web strategy for the portal that included an ongoing review cycle for content and information architecture input and the development of publishing policies and processes that reflected different agency approval models Show less

I managed the delivery of new early childhood parent focused publications and played a key role in the project development phase of edCentre in the areas of content strategy and information architecture.
