My first Social Work placement was a research placement at Western Sydney University under Professor Linda Briskman that consisted of 400 hours. Through Linda Briskman, I developed my passion for Human Rights and supporting minority groups such as Asylum Seekers and Refugees to recognise their rights. During this placement I was able to assist with the Challenging Racism Project and work with Academics for Refugees. During this time, my student colleague and I were in charge of organising meeting times and agendas, taking minutes and distributing these within the organisation. This included local and national levels. My confidential research was analyse previous qualitative and quantitative data to determine community attitudes towards asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. Show less

I built a successful business in my area of the Blue Mountains as an Avon Sales Representative. To do this I managed the distribution of catalogues, collection and fulfillment of orders and ensuring that accounts were paid. During my time with Avon I received two awards for outstanding sales. Being self-employed I was able to schedule in a way that ensured my elderly clients had enough one-on-one time with me, depending on their individual personalities and needs. I especially loved being able to set aside time with those clients which just wanted company and a chat. Show less
