I learned how to obtain all the necessities for patient safety, vital signs, a proper physical assessment, sterile technique,documentation, medication (parental and non-parental) administration, IV therapy, foley care and sterile insertion, blood glucose monitoring via finger sticks, wound care as well as dressing changes, care for ventilated patients- suction, cleaning and changing of inner cannula, nasogastric suctioning, chest tube care, enteral feedings, basic EKG understanding, specimen collection, colostomy- ileostomy care, discharge planning and patient teaching. I completed my clinical rotations at Winthrop University Hospital in the telemetry unit and at New York Hospital of Queens on many different units- pediatrics, oncology, telemetry, medical surgical, endoscopy, interventional radiology, cardiac catheterization laboratory and obstetrics.
