Home to one of the largest lasers in the world (the OMEGA system), the LLE is a global center for high-energy physics. During my engagement with the LLE as a student, I had the opportunity to work on the electron optics of streak cameras, novel compressed sensing techniques, and machine vision applications for optical metrology. As an intern at Safran Optics 1, I led efforts on a task that involved the classification of sounds. I was able to improve sound classification from 65% to 95% accuracy with an automated feature selection ML algorithm, and also built visualization tools to reduce data dimensionality.
