This is a recommendation of Sami Sahla based on his performance at Microsoft working in the System Power and later Architecture and Health teams. Within these teams Sami was the technical lead of power consumption for our high-end products. His role covered battery life, thermal management and system performance. Sami did an exceptional job identifying and prioritizing the work within these areas as well as making technical analysis. Sami took the lead in working out the best balance of power consumption, heat generation and performance such that our devices provide the best overall experience to the consumer. He was active, creative and reasonable in cooperating with our chipset partner and various domain specific teams (E.g., display, memory, networking, sensors, …) to develop solutions for controlling and optimizing power. Sami strived for continuous improvements if not for the current products under development then for future chipsets, platforms and experiences. Even though Sami did not hold a team lead role his expertise and opinions greatly influenced the work of a wide network of engineers at Microsoft. In addition to pushing various teams to improve the power efficiency of their own solutions, Sami was key in specifying our power targets such that we had perspective on what was expected and achievable with our product hardware and software. In addition to his own knowledge and experience, Sami gained insight by studying our competitors. His work in this area was widely appreciated across Microsoft’s Windows organization and led to numerous system optimizations that would have otherwise gone unrealized. Sami comes with the highest recommendation. Best Regards, Michael Schmidt Director, Project Manager of System Health, Microsoft Mobile Devices Group
